SDB confirms AirAsia’s statement that a total of RM300million loan was approved and disbursed to three subsidiaries of AirAsia namely Ourfarm Asia Sdn Bhd, Teleport Commerce Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Air Asia Bhd to fund specific development projects in Sabah. The main purpose of this loan is to develop Sabah’s tourism, agriculture and logistics industry by increasing its supply chain and connectivity, as well as job creation in the process.
We seek to assure all our investors, borrowers and stakeholders that SDB’s internal control processes are robust and of the highest standards. All loan applications will undergo stringent due diligence prior to being submitted to BOD of SDB for consideration and approval if appropriate.
The Officers of Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) have visited our office on 28th October 2020, and staff, management and BOD of SDB are extending its full co-operation and are providing the full information in relation to an investigation, presently being undertaken by MACC. There has been no further development /update from MACC since the most recent interview between MACC and SDB’s staff on 18th November 2020.
SDB wish to inform that the on-going investigation will not impede the normal business operations of the Bank.
